Americans are struggling with the cost of getting around and the health effects of transportation pollution. Clean cars are a big part of the solution, but Republicans in Congress are trying to pass a new tax on electric vehicles that could effectively destroy the clean cars industry.
If they succeed, it could raise costs for families, destroy EV manufacturing jobs, and increase climate pollution by up to 230 million metric tons. That’s the equivalent of adding 54 million gas-powered cars to the road for a year.
Lawmakers are drafting this must-pass bill right now. They need to hear from their constituents that this is something we can’t afford to compromise on.
