Tell President Biden: Stop These Fossil Fuel Projects While You Still Can

The election is over, and now we must do all we can to protect vulnerable communities from the impacts of a Trump presidency.

Right now, President Biden has just over 2 months before Trump takes the White House—which means he has 2 months to deny the export authorizations for six super-polluting gas projects.

President Biden already took an important step when he paused approvals for new liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects. That's why we think he'll take the next crucial step and reject six new LNG export authorizations—before time runs out—if enough of us speak up.

Remind President Biden that massively polluting fossil fuel facilities in vulnerable communities are not in the national interest, and neither is entrenching fossil fuel in our international politics.

Send a message now urging President Biden to stop these projects while he still can.

Dear President Biden,

Thank you for the courage and foresight you've shown with your administration's work to update the Department of Energy's studies that inform the public interest determination process for LNG export authorizations. It's vital that DOE finalizes its studies before the end of President Biden's term to fully account for the dangerous impacts LNG export terminals have on our climate, public health, communities, national security, and economy.

Four years of ambitious executive action and historic legislation have built a climate legacy you should be proud of, but that legacy is now threatened by the new president-elect, who can do harm on too many fronts.

But you have one critical opportunity to help mitigate the harm that President Trump can do, cement your climate legacy, and shore up our international reputation at a moment when we desperately need it.

You must deny permits for all pending LNG export authorizations, including the six LNG export authorizations that have been approved by FERC and are currently awaiting DOE approval. You must deny all of the following export terminal permits: Commonwealth LNG, Port Arthur LNG Phase II, Lake Charles LNG, Magnolia LNG, Saguaro II, and CP2 LNG Cameron Parish.

LNG export terminals poison nearby communities and export America's climate pollution to the world, peddling planet-warming emissions and dangerous air pollution to the importing communities.

Your LNG pause showed that you are willing to take a stand against the fossil fuel industry and its exploitation of local communities and our planet. Now, I urge you to finish the job by rejecting all pending LNG export authorizations, including these six disastrous LNG export authorizations—before it's too late.
